ShopspottingThe commission model explained

How do I recommend Merchavio the right way?

In short

Listen first, then recommend. Ask about their offer, tools and goals, and only explain the benefit that matches their answers. Quote prices and features as they appear on merchavio.com, label the recommendation as advertising and share your Shopspotter link without pressure.

1. Listen: where is the person right now?

A good recommendation starts with questions, not features. You want to know three things:

  • Situation: What do they sell today, what are they planning, and to whom?
  • Tools: What do they work with, and where does it get stuck? Too many logins, double maintenance, unlocking access by hand?
  • Goals: What should be different in a year? A first product, a subscription model, their own community, less tech?

Pay attention to the words they use. You will need them in a minute. Which answers point to a good fit is explained in which sellers suit Merchavio.

2. Explain the benefit in their words

Don’t list everything Merchavio can do. Pick up on what you heard and name the one or two features that match it.

What you hearWhat you can say
“I have five tools and I’m losing track.”Website, shop, courses, community, livestreams and email marketing run in one system with one login.
“My customers should stay my customers.”You sell under your own name, the money goes into your own Stripe account and the customer data belongs to you, with CSV export.
“I want to offer a membership.”Subscriptions, paid communities and memberships are built in, with access management for your customers.
“I want to teach live as well.”Livestreams, audio and video rooms and recordings are part of every paid plan, with a monthly allowance.
“What does it cost?”A fixed plan fee from €19 a month net plus a small fee per sale; Stripe charges its own fees separately. Monthly plans can be cancelled monthly (as of October 2026).

Check prices and features on merchavio.com before every conversation. What it says there, you can say. Nothing more.

3. Stay honest, including about limits

Trust grows when you also say what doesn’t fit. If someone asks about automatic tax calculation at checkout, you tell them it isn’t included. If you don’t know something, say so and point to merchavio.com. Only share your own experiences if you really had them, and say that they are yours.

Also say openly that you receive a commission if someone signs up through your link and then pays Merchavio. Hearing it from you lets them put your recommendation in context.

Instead of pushing, suggest trying Merchavio free for 5 days. That way the person checks for themselves whether it fits. If they want to try it, give them your Shopspotter link with “Ad” right next to it, in the language you are speaking. In conversation you say it out loud, and if you send the link afterwards because they asked for it, the label sits right next to the link.

No pressure, no made-up deadline, no “this week only”. And no benefits tied to your link, such as “If you sign up through my link, I’ll set everything up for free”. If you help sellers with the setup, your offer is the same for everyone, whether they sign up through your link or not. More on this in supporting your sellers.

Phrases you can use

  • Opening: “How are you selling your courses at the moment? What works well, and what drives you mad?”
  • Benefit: “You said the many logins annoy you. With Merchavio, shop, courses and community run in one system.”
  • Label: “Quick note so it’s clear: this is an ad. I’m a Shopspotter, and if you sign up through my link, I receive a commission on what you pay Merchavio.”
  • Own experience: “I sell with it myself. That’s my experience; it may be different for you.”
  • Trial: “You can try it free for 5 days and see for yourself whether it suits you.”
  • Limit: “I’m not sure about that. merchavio.com has the current details.”
  • Follow-up: “Is it okay if I check in again in two weeks?”

Follow up only with their agreement

If the person agreed, get in touch as arranged, once and in a friendly way. If they didn’t, you don’t send reminders by email or direct message. They have your link and know where to find you.

What you must never say

  • Promises of income or success, such as “You’ll sell twice as much with this”.
  • Anything that makes you look like Merchavio: “I’m from the Merchavio team”, “official partner”, “official support”.
  • Prices, offers or discount codes that don’t come from Merchavio. Discount codes only if Merchavio has given them to you in text form.
  • False scarcity or time pressure.
  • Disparaging remarks about competitors.

All the rules at a glance are in what is allowed in Shopspotting.
