How do I find sellers with YouTube as a Shopspotter?
On YouTube, you reach people who want to sell digital products with videos that answer their questions. Recommend Merchavio where it fits the topic and label it as an ad: in the first seconds of the video, spoken and on screen, and right next to the link in the description. Only show what you have set up or experienced yourself.
Who do you reach on YouTube?
Before someone records a course, starts a membership or builds a shop, they often look for a tutorial to watch. Anyone who watches a long video on it is serious about the topic, and your channel reaches them by answering questions about selling digital products. A channel aimed at minors is not a place for this advertising.
Commission only arises once someone signs up through your link and then pays Merchavio as a seller. With Merchavio, you then receive 25% of the fee on each of their sales and 25% of their monthly subscription, net. Worked examples are in how much a Shopspotter earns.
Which videos suit Shopspotting?
A good video helps even viewers who never use Merchavio; Merchavio is one step in it, not the main subject. Four formats that suit YouTube:
Setup on screen
Record how you build a sales page in the page builder, a course with modules and lessons or a discount code. Only steps you have done yourself, no staged screens.
Walkthrough from the buyer’s side
If you sell with Merchavio yourself, show the path a buyer takes through your shop: sales page, checkout, access to the course. Say that this is your own experience.
One viewer question per video
For example “How does the money from my course sales reach my account?”. With Merchavio, it goes straight into the seller’s own Stripe account.
A joint video with a seller
If you helped someone with their setup and they agree, show together how it went, including what was difficult.
Your Shopspotter account has no shop. To show Merchavio from the inside, you need a seller account: your own shop if you already sell with it, or a seller trial (5 days free). Never use your Shopspotter link for your own account. Without that inside view, describe features only as they appear on merchavio.com.
How do you label the ad in a video?
Use the word “Ad” or “Advertisement”, in the language of your video. “Partner link” or an asterisk without explanation is not enough on its own.
In the first few seconds
Label it right at the start, spoken and on screen, not only when the recommendation comes up. For example: “Ad: in this video I recommend Merchavio. I’m a Shopspotter and receive a commission if you use Merchavio through my link.” Keep the text on screen long enough and large enough to read on a phone.
In the description, right next to the link
Put label and link together in the first lines, such as “Ad: see Merchavio”, followed directly by your link. Check on a phone that both can be seen together.
When viewers ask in the comments
If someone asks under your video what you use, reply and point them to the labelled spot in the description. No advertising comments or links under other people’s videos.
Where does the recommendation go?
Mention Merchavio where the video gets to the system, such as the step “What do I sell it with?” in a video about a first course. One or two sentences are enough: “Here you need a system that connects the sales page, payment and course access. With Merchavio, shop, checkout, online course and community run in one system.” Also say who it suits less well; which sellers suit Merchavio helps with that.
Your Shopspotter area has a referral link and a short link; either works in the description. If you show the link in the video, use the short link and keep it on screen large enough and long enough for people to type it. Both count the same for attribution, as explained in how the Shopspotter link works.
How do older videos stay accurate?
A video can keep being watched long after you upload it. What you say in it can’t be changed, but the description can:
- Give prices in the video with a date, such as “Merchavio’s Starter plan: €19 a month net, as of October 2026”, or point to merchavio.com for prices.
- If prices, features or the trial change on merchavio.com, note at the top of the description what in the video is no longer accurate.
- If a video is wrong on important points, take it down or record a new one.
What applies to your channel, titles and ads?
Your channel name, handle and domain don’t contain “Merchavio” or a similar spelling. Titles and thumbnails don’t present you as Merchavio: no “official tutorial”, no “Merchavio Support”. Videos generated automatically or with AI in large numbers, mainly to place links, are forbidden. Before promoting a video with paid ads, read the rules for ads as a Shopspotter.
Your next step
Take the question your viewers ask most and plan your next video around it. Labelling on other platforms is covered in Shopspotting for creators.
