ShopspottingThe commission model explained

How do I support my sellers as a Shopspotter?

In short

You don’t have to look after your sellers: your commission doesn’t depend on it. If you want, you can support them with setup, offer, sales pages or marketing and charge your own fees, under your own contract with the seller. Your offer is the same for everyone and is never tied to signing up through your link. If a seller sells more as a result, your commission from their sales fees grows too.

What does supporting a seller mean?

Support is an offer from you to your sellers, voluntary on both sides. Typical areas:

Setup

Set up the shop and website with the page builder, connect the seller’s own domain, create products, configure checkout and discount codes, and check the path from click to access.

Offer and pricing

Work out together what the seller sells: course, membership, bundle or download, as a one-off payment or subscription, and at what price.

Sales pages

Copy and structure of the sales page, answers to common questions, clear information about content and price.

Marketing

Set up email marketing, plan content, use livestreams or workshops as an entry point, read the analytics.

The account belongs to the seller. They create it themselves, connect their own Stripe account and decide how you work together, for example side by side at the screen. If they are moving from another tool, helping sellers switch to Merchavio walks through the process. You can also support sellers who didn’t come through your link; there is simply no commission from them.

Fee and commission: two separate things

  • The commission is paid by Merchavio: 25% of the fee on every sale the seller makes and 25% of their plan, both net. It doesn’t depend on whether you support them.
  • Your fee is paid to you by the seller, for your work. You agree on it in your own contract. Merchavio is not part of it.

Set out in the contract what you deliver, by when and at what price. And tell the seller openly that you also receive a commission from Merchavio.

Why support can make your commission grow

The part from sales fees grows with the seller’s revenue. If you help them sell better, your commission rises too. An example: a seller on the Growth plan sells a product for €10. Their revenue rises from €5,000 to €15,000 a month.

BeforeAfter
Revenue per month€5,000€15,000
Sales at €105001,500
Paid to Merchavio (plan and fees)€254.00€664.00
Your commission (25%)€63.50€166.00

This is an example, not an average and not a promise. Calculated with Merchavio’s prices for the monthly Growth plan, 1.6% plus €0.25 per sale (prices as of October 2026), without VAT. Whether revenue really grows depends on the seller, their offer and their market. The details are in how the commission is calculated.

Where are the limits?

No perks for signing up through your link

No perk of your support may be tied to someone signing up through your link. Not allowed, for example: “Free setup if you sign up through my link” or “A discount on my coaching for everyone who comes through my link”. Perks like these require Merchavio’s prior consent in text form. So your offer is the same, however the seller comes to Merchavio.

No promises of success

Don’t promise revenue, sales figures or income, neither in your offer nor in conversation. Describe what you do instead: “I’ll build your sales page with you and plan your first newsletters together.”

Don’t act as Merchavio

You are independent. Don’t call your offer “official Merchavio support”, and keep “Merchavio” out of the name of your service and your domain.

Use details from your Shopspotter area only to check your statements

Your Shopspotter area shows, among other things, each seller’s plan, status and approximate commission per month. You use these details only to check your statements. They are no reason to approach a seller with your offer, for instance because little commission comes from them. Present your offer the way you would to anyone else, such as in conversation or in your own content.

How do you put together a sensible package?

  1. Pick an area

Offer what you are genuinely good at. An agency tends to take on setup and sales pages, a coach the offer and pricing.

  2. Describe the scope clearly

For example: “Launch package: set up the shop, create one product, build the sales page, two sessions of 60 minutes each.” The clearer the scope, the easier the decision.

  3. Name a fixed price

A package price is easier for sellers to judge than open-ended hours. It applies to everyone, regardless of how the seller came to Merchavio.

  4. Ongoing support, if wanted

For example one session a month on figures and marketing, cancellable monthly.

  5. Put it in writing

Service, price, period and cancellation belong in your contract.

Your next step

Write down which support you could offer and what it should cost. If you run an agency, Shopspotting for agencies has more on this. Coaches will find ideas in Shopspotting for coaches.
