How is the commission calculated?
At Merchavio, the commission is 25% of the net amount a referred seller actually pays Merchavio: from the fee on every sale they make and from the monthly plan. Discounts reduce the basis, and VAT shown on a payment does not count. The commission itself is a final amount: if you are liable for VAT, the VAT is included in it.
What is the rule?
Every payment a referred seller makes to Merchavio is handled the same way:
- The starting point is the amount the seller actually paid, after all discounts.
- If VAT is shown on it, the VAT is taken off. What is left is the net amount.
- You receive 25% of that net amount.
This applies to both kinds of payment: the monthly plan and the fee charged on each of the seller’s sales. Each payment counts on its own. Because fees come in with every sale, the commission for the current month grows over the month in your Shopspotter area.
Share of the plan
The plan is a fixed monthly amount. On Growth it is €49 net, so your share is €12.25 a month (prices as of October 2026).
Share of every sales fee
The fee per sale is a percentage of the price plus a fixed amount. For a sale at €50 on Growth, that is 1.6% of €50 plus €0.25, so €1.05 in total. Your share of it is €0.26, rounded.
What does each plan work out to?
The table shows all four Merchavio plans with an example price of €50 per sale:
| Plan | Plan price per month | Your share of the plan | Fee per sale | Your share per sale at €50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | €19 | €4.75 | 1.9% + €0.25 | €0.30 |
| Growth | €49 | €12.25 | 1.6% + €0.25 | €0.26 |
| Scale | €129 | €32.25 | 1.4% + €0.25 | €0.24 |
| Plus | €499 | €124.75 | 1.2% + €0.25 | €0.21 |
Prices as of October 2026, all amounts net, per-sale values rounded. The price of €50 is only an example. At a different price, the percentage part of the fee changes and the fixed part stays the same.
Larger plans come with a higher base and a lower percentage per sale. How this adds up over a whole month is shown in the example on what a Shopspotter earns.
How do discounts affect the commission?
At Merchavio there is no commission on discounts, so during promotions the commission is lower accordingly. This affects two situations.
A discount on the plan
Suppose a seller pays for Growth with a 20% discount, so €39.20 instead of €49. You then receive 25% of €39.20, which is €9.80 instead of €12.25.
A discount code the seller gives customers
The fee per sale is calculated on the price the seller’s customer actually pays. Take a seller on Growth with a €50 course and 200 sales a month. If they give €10 off, their customers pay €40. The fees drop to €178.00, and your share of them to €44.50 instead of €52.50.
Both calculations are examples, prices as of October 2026.
Is VAT included in the commission?
Two separate things matter here. VAT does not count towards the basis: if a seller’s payment shows VAT, it is deducted before the 25% is calculated.
Your commission itself is a final amount. If you are liable for VAT, the VAT is already included in that amount and shown on the self-billing credit note Merchavio creates for you. Nothing is added on top. What this means for your taxes is best clarified with your tax advisor.
What happens if a seller’s payment is reversed?
The calculation only applies to money that stays with Merchavio. If a seller’s payment to Merchavio is refunded, charged back or fails, the commission on it is reversed, offset against your future commission or reclaimed if necessary. The details are on cancellations, refunds and chargebacks.
