ShopspottingThe commission model explained

Do I need my own shop to become a Shopspotter?

In short

No. As a Shopspotter you get a separate account with its own Shopspotter area, without a shop, a plan or a trial. If you already sell with Merchavio, you can use the same email or start the Shopspotter account from the settings of your seller account. The two accounts stay separate.

What is the Shopspotter account?

The Shopspotter account is a separate account just for Shopspotting. It has its own login and takes you to your Shopspotter area. That is where you find your link, the sellers you referred, your commission and your payouts. There is no shop, no pages, no courses and no products in this account, and you don’t need any. What the area shows in detail is covered in what the Shopspotter area shows.

The account costs nothing: no plan, no trial that runs out, no purchase. You recommend a shop system; you don’t have to run one yourself. What exactly you recommend is covered in what Shopspotters recommend.

I already sell with Merchavio. How do I get a Shopspotter account?

There are two ways:

  • Through the signup: you sign up as a Shopspotter using the same email address as for your shop.
  • From your seller account: you start the Shopspotter account in the settings of your seller account under “Shopspotting”.

What does “separate” mean?

Even with the same email, these are two accounts. Each has its own password and its own login, and you can be logged in to both at the same time. Your shop stays as it is. Your Shopspotter area only shows what belongs to Shopspotting: link, referrals, commission, payouts and your conditions.

It works the other way round too: if you start as a Shopspotter and later want to sell yourself, you open your own shop from your Shopspotter area with the same email. It becomes a separate account, and your Shopspotter area stays as it is.

No. Referring yourself is not allowed. That covers signing up your own shop through your link, accounts with the same payment methods, further accounts that are economically yours and accounts created only to trigger commission. These earn no commission.

Self-referral is also a breach of the partner terms for which Merchavio can skip individual steps of the usual consequences, up to immediate termination. How the consequences are graded is covered in the rules for Shopspotters. Commission comes from real sellers you have convinced of Merchavio and who pay for it themselves.

Does it help if I sell with Merchavio myself?

It can, because then you know the platform from practice. You know how the page builder feels, how a course with modules and lessons comes together and what the checkout looks like for your customers. That kind of experience makes a recommendation concrete.

The rules from the partner terms still apply. The experience has to be real, and you present it as your own, for example: “I sell my own courses with Merchavio, and what I noticed is …”. Quote prices, features and trials as they appear on merchavio.com, not as you remember them. And label your recommendation as advertising, even when you write it from a seller’s point of view.

And if I don’t sell anything myself?

Then it works just the same. A good recommendation starts with the other person’s situation: what do they want to sell, what do they use today, what bothers them about it? You can judge that without having a shop. How to approach it in conversation is covered in how to recommend Merchavio well.

If you still want to see the platform from the inside, you can try a shop of your own free for 5 days. Don’t sign it up through your own link: self-referral is not allowed and earns no commission.

What’s the next step?

If you don’t have a Shopspotter account yet, you can create one for free. What comes after that is covered in how to start as a Shopspotter.
