ShopspottingThe commission model explained

What does the Shopspotter area show?

In short

The Shopspotter area is your own area at Merchavio, with its own login. It shows your key figures, your Shopspotter link, the list of sellers you referred, your commission per month, your payouts with credit notes and your conditions. It is also where you add your tax and payout details and request payouts.

Which key figures does the area show?

Five figures sit at the top:

  • Available: balance whose hold period is over. You can request it from Merchavio’s minimum of €50, once your tax and payout details are complete.
  • This month: commission for the current month, accruing with every payment your sellers make to Merchavio.
  • Earned in total: your commission since you started, with the part already paid out.
  • Clicks (30 days): clicks on your link in the last 30 days, with the conversion.
  • Referred: how many people signed up through your link, paying and in total.

The link card shows your Shopspotter link in two versions, a referral link and a short link, each with a copy button. It also shows the cookie window, 90 days at Merchavio, and a short note on when someone is attributed to you. Which version suits which place is explained in how the Shopspotter link works.

How do you read clicks and conversion?

Conversion puts the number of sellers you referred in relation to your clicks over the last 30 days, as a percentage. An example with assumed figures: 4 referrals and 200 clicks make 2%. Referrals count from the day you started, clicks only for the last 30 days, so conversion is a rough guide rather than an exact rate.

  • Signed up doesn’t mean paying. Commission arises as soon as a seller pays Merchavio something, their plan or the fee on a sale.
  • All places together. The clicks count for your link as a whole, whether it sits in an article, a newsletter or a video description.
  • Small numbers fluctuate. With few clicks, a single signup moves the conversion a lot.

What does your seller list show?

Everyone who signed up through your link appears there with these details:

DetailWhat it shows
Accountshop name, or a partly masked email address if there is no shop name yet, with the signup date below
PlanStarter, Growth, Scale or Plus, once they pay
Statusfor example paying or trial
Ratethe commission rate that applies to this seller
≈ €/monthan approximate monthly figure for your commission from this seller
Earnedwhat this seller has brought you so far

The monthly figure is a guide: it is based on the seller’s plan, and what their sales fees add depends on how much they sell. What has actually arisen is shown under “Earned”.

Commission per month

A separate overview shows how much commission arose in each month, so you can see how it develops.

How do payouts work in the area?

Your first payout takes three steps:

  1. Business and tax details: company or name, address, country, tax status and tax number or VAT ID. Merchavio verifies a VAT ID.
  2. Payout destination: your IBAN for SEPA or your PayPal address.
  3. Request payout: the “Request payout” button requests your available balance.

While details are missing, the tax details card sits at the top and the button is locked.

Payouts with credit notes

Every payout appears in a list with date, amount, credit note number and status, such as processing or paid out. Merchavio creates the credit note automatically as a PDF and emails it to you. You can object within 30 days. Hold periods and the minimum are explained in when commission is paid out.

What do your conditions say?

Your conditions sum up what applies to you at Merchavio: 25% of your sellers’ sales fees and subscription, calculated on the net amount without VAT, the 90-day cookie window, the hold period of month end plus 30 days and the minimum payout of €50. The partner terms, with their date, are at the very bottom of the area. If they change, grandfathering applies to the rates of your existing sellers, see what happens if the partner terms change.

What may you use the seller details for?

You only see what is needed for a traceable settlement. Under section 13 of the partner terms, you use these details only to check your statements:

  • Allowed: checking whether a seller is attributed to you, whether they pay and whether your commission matches your credit notes.
  • Not allowed: passing the details on or using them for advertising, for example contacting sellers from the list with offers.

What’s next?

You get the area with the free Shopspotter account, no shop or plan needed. If you don’t sell yet, its account menu lets you open your own shop with the same email, as a separate account: how the Shopspotter and seller accounts fit together. What comes after signing up: how to start as a Shopspotter.
