ShopspottingThe commission model explained

When is commission paid out?

In short

At Merchavio, you can request a payout once at least €50 of commission is available. Commission becomes available at the earliest 30 days after the end of the month in which it arose. You request the payout in your Shopspotter area with the “Request payout” button and receive the money via PayPal or SEPA transfer, with a self-billing credit note instead of your own invoice.

What do you need before your first payout?

The order is fixed, and your Shopspotter area guides you through three steps:

  1. Tax and business details

Company or name, address, country, tax status and tax number or VAT ID. A VAT ID is verified. Your credit note is later created from these details.

  2. Payout destination

Your IBAN for a SEPA transfer or your PayPal address.

  3. Request payout

Once both are in place and at least €50 is available (Merchavio’s minimum), you request the payout with the “Request payout” button.

Until your details are complete, the button is locked. Your commission keeps accruing as normal in the meantime. You can also add the details before your first seller has paid anything. If you have entered a VAT ID, its verification has to be complete before you can request a payout.

When does commission become available?

Two conditions have to be met:

  • Hold period: commission becomes available at the earliest 30 days after the end of the month in which it arose.
  • Minimum amount: your available balance is at least €50. If it is lower, it stays in your balance and new commission is added to it.

An example of the hold period

Commission from March is closed when the month ends on 31 March. The 30 days run up to and including 30 April, so it becomes available from 1 May. Commission from April becomes available from 31 May. Whatever arises in the current month is not available yet.

The hold period exists because sellers’ payments to Merchavio can still be refunded or charged back after the month has ended. How that is offset against your commission is explained in what happens if a seller cancels.

An example with the minimum amount

Suppose you have 3 sellers on Merchavio’s Growth plan, and only your share of their plans is counted. March then brings €36.75. From 1 May this amount is out of the hold period, but it is below €50, so you cannot request it yet. From 31 May, €36.75 from April is added. Now €73.50 is available, and you can request the payout. This is an example, not an average and not a promise, prices as of October 2026.

There is one exception: if you end your participation, Merchavio pays out the remainder after the hold period without a request, even below €50. How that works is covered in how to cancel Shopspotting.

How does the money reach you?

You request the payout yourself once both conditions are met. Your whole available balance is then paid out via PayPal or SEPA transfer, depending on the payout destination you have added.

The amount is your commission as a final amount. If you are liable for VAT, the VAT is included in it and shown on the credit note. How the amount is worked out is covered in how the commission is calculated.

Why don’t you write an invoice?

Merchavio settles by self-billing credit note. For every payout, Merchavio automatically creates a credit note as a PDF with your business details. You receive it by email, and your Shopspotter area lists every payout with its credit note number. You don’t issue an invoice yourself.

Take a look at the credit note when it arrives. If something is wrong, you can object within 30 days.

Where can you see what you can withdraw?

In your Shopspotter area, the “Payout” card shows your available balance. Next to it you see what is not ready yet: what is accruing this month, what is still in the 30-day hold and what is currently in payout. The “Payouts” list shows every payout so far with date, amount, status and the credit note number. That way you can match each payout against your commission per month. What else the area shows is covered in the tour of the Shopspotter area.
