What makes Shopspotting special?
What sets Shopspotting apart above all is that your commission is tied to the fee a seller pays on every sale, so it grows with their success. It comes back every month, has no expiry date and only arises from real payments; at Merchavio, a share of the subscription comes on top. You work self-employed, taking part costs nothing, and whether you support your sellers is up to you.
Why does the commission grow with your sellers’ success?
Because it is tied to the fee a seller pays on every sale. That fee depends on the number and the price of their sales. If they sell twice as often at the same prices, they pay twice as much in fees, and your share of them doubles too. You don’t have to do anything extra for the higher amount.
So your interests and your sellers’ interests point the same way: the better they sell, the higher your commission. That is why Shopspotting means recommending only where the shop system really fits. How to tell is covered under which sellers suit Merchavio.
At Merchavio, the subscription comes on top
At Merchavio, you also receive 25% of the seller’s monthly plan, like a classic referral commission. This is a fixed base per seller that changes if they switch plans or pay less, for example because of a discount. For sellers who sell well, the share from sales fees is the larger part. What both add up to in euros is shown in the earnings example.
Why does the commission come back every month?
Because the seller pays every month. The plan is due monthly, and every sale triggers a fee. Each of these payments creates new commission for you, as long as the seller keeps paying.
No expiry date
The commission has no expiry date: it runs for as long as the seller pays and you take part. What can end it is covered under how long you receive commission.
Protected terms
If Merchavio later changes rates or conditions, the change only applies to sellers referred afterwards. For sellers you have already referred, your conditions stay as they were. More on what happens if the partner terms change.
What does commission arise from?
Only from real payments by sellers. The basis is what a seller actually pays, after discounts and without VAT. During a discount campaign, your commission is lower accordingly. If one of the seller’s payments to Merchavio is refunded, charged back or fails, the commission on it is reversed. So your commission is always tied to money that has really been paid.
You can follow this in your Shopspotter area: it shows your commission per month, and Merchavio creates a credit note for every payout. How to check your statements is covered under whether Shopspotting is legit.
How free are you as a Shopspotter?
Shopspotting is a self-employed activity. You decide when, how often and through which channels you recommend, within the partner terms. Taking part costs nothing: you don’t need a shop of your own or a plan, and there is nothing to buy. You can stop at any time without notice, in your Shopspotter area or by email. Merchavio still pays out commission you have already earned, even below the minimum.
Support is optional
Your commission doesn’t depend on whether you support your sellers. If you want to, you can help with setup, their offer or marketing and charge your own fee for it. What is not allowed is tying a benefit to signing up through your link, such as “free setup if you sign up through my link”. What good support looks like is covered in the guide to supporting your sellers.
What’s next?
How these traits play out in practice, from the first recommendation to the credit note, is shown in how Shopspotting works in six steps. Whether Shopspotting suits you is covered in who can become a Shopspotter.
