How do creators use Shopspotting?
If a good part of your audience is self-employed or about to start an online business, you can recommend Merchavio in content that belongs to your topic anyway: tutorials, behind-the-scenes looks or answers to your community’s questions. “Ad” goes at the start of the content and right next to the link. You only share what you have experienced yourself, and your profile name doesn’t contain “Merchavio”.
Does your audience fit?
Shopspotting suits you if your viewers, readers or listeners include people who sell their knowledge or plan to: coaches, trainers, consultants, creatives, experts. Common topics are “create your first online course”, “start a membership” or “sell templates”. How to spot individual sellers who fit is explained in which sellers suit Merchavio.
If your channel is aimed at minors, it is not a place for this advertising. The partner terms rule out environments like that.
Which formats work?
Tutorial
You show step by step how to set up a course, a download or a membership, ideally using your own shop.
Behind the scenes
You talk about how you sell, which features you use and what helps you. Only if that is really how you do it.
Answering questions
One question keeps coming up, such as “What should I use to sell my first course?”. You explain what matters and show how it works with Merchavio.
Link in bio or description
Your Shopspotter link sits in your bio, below the video or in the show notes, with “Ad” right next to it.
How do you label it properly?
“Ad” or “Advertisement” goes at the start of the content and right next to the link, in the language you speak, and visible on every device. A “partner link” note or an asterisk without explanation is not enough on its own. Here is how to do it:
- YouTube: Say it and show it on screen in the first few seconds. In the description, “Ad” comes directly before the link. More in Shopspotting on YouTube.
- Instagram: In a post, the label goes at the start of the caption so it is visible without expanding it. In a story, it sits on the image with the link; in your bio, right next to the link.
- TikTok: Said or shown at the start of the video and at the start of the caption.
- Podcast: Said at the start of the episode or segment and placed right next to the link in the show notes. More in Shopspotting with a podcast.
If a platform has its own labelling rules, they apply as well. An example for a description: “Ad: this link takes you to Merchavio. If you sign up through it, I receive a commission.”
Why real experiences only?
Your audience follows you because they believe you. If you use Merchavio yourself, show real screens and say that this is your experience. If you don’t, talk about the features as they appear on merchavio.com, without pretending you have tested them.
- No results you didn’t have, and no income promises to your audience.
- No time pressure like “today only” and no discount codes you made up. Discount codes only if Merchavio has given them to you in text form.
- No masses of AI-generated posts or comments that mainly spread links.
- No promotional comments under other people’s posts. In your own comment section, you answer questions and share the link, labelled “Ad”, when someone asks for it.
Profile name, domain and how you present yourself
“Merchavio” doesn’t belong in your channel name, profile name, domain or the name of an app, not even in a similar spelling. You appear as yourself, not as Merchavio, not as an “official partner” and not as support. If you promote a video with paid ads, the partner terms set separate rules for that: ads as a Shopspotter.
What if you sell with Merchavio yourself?
If you sell digital products yourself, you can open your own shop with the same email. The shop and your Shopspotter account stay separate, each with its own login. But you don’t sign up your own shop through your own link: referring yourself is not allowed, and no commission arises from it. Your own shop is still the most honest example for tutorials and behind-the-scenes content. How the two accounts relate is explained in do I need my own shop?
