How do I start as a Shopspotter?
Sign up on merchavio.com with email and password or with Google, and confirm the partner terms and that you take part as a business. Your link is then waiting in your Shopspotter area. Share it with people Merchavio suits, always labelled as advertising. You only need your tax and payout details before your first payout.
Step 1: How do I create the account?
The “Become a Shopspotter” button at the bottom of this page takes you to the Shopspotting page on merchavio.com, where you start the signup. Sign up with email and password or with your Google account, and confirm two things:
- that you accept the partner terms,
- that you take part as a business, meaning as part of your self-employed or commercial work.
The account is free and needs no shop, no plan and no trial. Who can take part is covered in who can become a Shopspotter.
Already selling with Merchavio?
Then you can use the same email when you sign up, or start the Shopspotter account in the settings of your seller account under “Shopspotting”. The two accounts stay separate, each with its own login. The details are in the Shopspotter account and your own shop.
Step 2: Where do I find my link?
After signing up you land in your Shopspotter area. It shows your personal link in two versions: the referral link and a short link, each with a copy button. Both count the same for attribution. When a seller is attributed to you is explained in how the Shopspotter link works. What else the area shows is covered in what the Shopspotter area shows.
Step 3: What should I check before my first recommendation?
Some rules from the partner terms apply from day one:
- Label every recommendation as advertising, with “Ad” or “Advertisement” right next to the link, and at the very start of videos and streams.
- Quote prices, features and the trial as they appear on merchavio.com. Present your own experience as your own.
- Don’t create profiles, domains, app names or accounts with “Merchavio” or a similar spelling in the name.
- Don’t give people a benefit for signing up through your link, unless Merchavio has agreed to it beforehand in text form.
All the rules in plain language are in what is allowed in Shopspotting.
Step 4: Who do I recommend Merchavio to first?
The easiest place to start is with people who already know you: clients, colleagues, your network. Think about who Merchavio would solve a real problem for. Good candidates are people who
- want to sell a course, coaching or workshops online,
- are planning a paid community or membership,
- offer e-books, templates or other downloads,
- stitch several tools together today and are tired of it.
Three people who genuinely fit beat ten you have talked yourself into. How to tell is covered in which sellers are a good fit.
In conversation, not by promotional message
Bring it up where it comes up by itself: someone tells you about their new course, asks about a tool for memberships or complains about their tech setup. Then you tell them what Merchavio does and say openly that you receive a commission through your link. Don’t send anyone an unsolicited promotional message with your link, whether by email, direct message or text, not even people you know. The partner terms prohibit it. If someone in the conversation wants to know more and asks for the link, pass it on with “Ad” right next to it.
Step 5: When do I add my tax and payout details?
You only need them before your first payout. You can add them earlier, though, so everything is ready as soon as a balance becomes available. Your tax and business details come first, then your payout details, meaning IBAN or PayPal address. Later you request each payout in your Shopspotter area with the “Request payout” button. The minimum amount and timing are covered in when commission is paid out.
What happens in the first few weeks?
When someone signs up through your link, they appear in your Shopspotter area in the list of sellers you referred, with their plan and status. A new seller can try Merchavio free for 5 days first. Commission arises as soon as they pay Merchavio anything, their plan or the fee on a sale. The free trial itself doesn’t earn commission yet.
Once you have spoken to the obvious contacts, your own content helps people you don’t know yet find you: a blog post about launching an online course, a LinkedIn post about the tools you use, a podcast episode or a small workshop. The different routes and how they work are covered in how to find sellers. The clicks of the last 30 days with the conversion in your area show how often your link is used overall.
