How do I cancel Shopspotting?
You can end your participation in Shopspotting at any time without notice: in your Shopspotter area via “End Shopspotting”, or by email to the contact address in the legal notice on merchavio.com. After that, later payments from your sellers no longer create commission. Merchavio pays out your remaining balance after the hold period without a request, even if it is below the usual minimum.
How do you cancel your participation?
There is no notice period, and you don’t have to give a reason. You have two ways:
In your Shopspotter area
Open the account menu at the top right and choose “End Shopspotting”. You see once more what applies afterwards, and you confirm. Your participation ends straight away.
By email
Write to the contact address in Merchavio’s legal notice, say that you are ending your participation in Shopspotting and include the email address of your Shopspotter account. Merchavio then records the end for you.
Afterwards
Payments that come in after the end no longer create commission, and your Shopspotter link no longer counts. Your account stays: you can still log in and see where your commission stands.
What to check first
Check in your Shopspotter area that your tax and business details and your payout destination are in place. Without them, Merchavio can’t pay out your remaining balance either. If they are missing, add them; you can still do that after the end.
What happens to commission you have already earned?
It stays yours. Merchavio pays out whatever you earned up to the end and has not been reversed without a request once the hold period is over: at the earliest 30 days after the end of the month in which your participation ends. The minimum of €50 that otherwise applies at Merchavio does not apply here, so a smaller remainder is paid out too. As always, Merchavio creates a self-billing credit note for it. If your tax or payout details are missing, you get an email asking you to add them, and the payout follows once they are complete. How the hold period works is covered in when commission is paid out.
Commission is reversed if a seller’s payment to Merchavio is refunded, charged back or fails. How that works is explained in what happens if a seller cancels.
What happens to later payments from your sellers?
Payments that come in after your participation has ended no longer create commission, neither from sales fees nor from subscriptions. This applies to all your sellers at once, however long they have been with Merchavio.
Your sellers have their own accounts
Your sellers are Merchavio customers in their own right, with their own account, their shop and their own customers. Cancelling only ends your participation in Shopspotting. If you support sellers for your own fee, that is an arrangement between you and them, separate from Shopspotting.
Your links in existing content
After the end, you remove your Shopspotter links from posts, video descriptions and profiles within 14 days. Alternatively, you change those places so that nobody gets the impression you are still taking part. This is set out in section 12 of the partner terms.
When can Merchavio end your participation?
Merchavio can terminate with 30 days’ notice. For good cause, such as a breach of the rules, termination with immediate effect is also possible. Merchavio responds to breaches step by step, from a notice with a deadline up to termination. Every measure comes with reasons, and you can object.
If your participation ends because of a breach, only the commission from transactions based on that breach lapses; Merchavio can reclaim commission from them that has already been paid out. Everything else is settled as described above. Which rules apply is covered in what is allowed and what isn’t.
Can you cancel if the terms change?
Yes. If Merchavio announces a change to the partner terms, you can object to it before it takes effect or instead cancel without notice. Cancelling then works just as described above, in your Shopspotter area or by email. Before you decide, read what is changing and what grandfathering keeps in place for the rates of your existing sellers: what happens if the partner terms change.
What applies if you are a seller too?
Your shop is a separate account, apart from your Shopspotter account and with its own login. If you cancel Shopspotting, you only end your participation as a Shopspotter. So make it clear in your email that you mean Shopspotting and not your shop. The other way round, cancelling your plan or your seller account doesn’t end Shopspotting: your Shopspotter account is a separate account.
How the two accounts fit together is explained in how the Shopspotter and seller accounts fit together.
What’s next?
How long your commission runs while you take part is covered in how long you receive commission. The full text on cancellation and term is in section 15 of the partner terms on merchavio.com.
