ShopspottingThe commission model explained

How long do you receive commission?

In short

With no expiry date: you receive commission for as long as a referred seller pays Merchavio and you take part as a Shopspotter. It starts with their first payment and ends for them when they stop paying, and for all your sellers when your participation ends. Merchavio pays out what you have earned up to then after the hold period, even below the minimum.

Does commission have an expiry date?

No. Commission depends on two conditions, not on a time period: the seller pays Merchavio, and you take part as a Shopspotter. As long as both are true, every payment the seller makes creates new commission, month after month.

If a seller stays for three years and you take part for that long, you receive your share of the fees on their sales and of their plan for three years. How big that share is, is explained in what a Shopspotter earns. Taking part is free and has no fixed term.

When does commission start?

Two things are needed. First the assignment: if someone signs up through your Shopspotter link, their account is assigned to you. When a signup counts is explained in how the Shopspotter link works. Then the first payment: commission only arises once the seller pays Merchavio, for their plan or as a fee on a sale.

A seller can try Merchavio free for 5 days first or book a plan straight away. The free trial itself does not create commission yet. In your Shopspotter area, the status shows whether a seller is still on trial or already paying.

When does commission end?

There are three cases. In the first it ends for a single seller, in the other two for all of them.

The seller stops paying

If a seller cancels with Merchavio, no new commission arises from them. Your other sellers are not affected. What happens to their earlier payments is covered on what happens if a seller cancels.

You end your participation

You can leave at any time without notice, in your Shopspotter area or by email to the contact address in the legal notice on merchavio.com. The steps are described in how to cancel Shopspotting.

Merchavio ends your participation

Merchavio can terminate with 30 days’ notice. If the rules are broken, termination with immediate effect is also possible. Which rules these are is explained in what is allowed in Shopspotting.

What happens to commission you have already earned?

Once your participation ends, payments that come in afterwards no longer create commission. Merchavio pays out any commission you earned up to then that has not been reversed after the hold period, without a request, with a self-billing credit note and without the usual minimum. How the hold period works is explained in when commission is paid out.

If your participation ends because of a breach, you only lose the commission from the transactions based on that breach. Everything else is settled in the same way.

Does commission end when something changes?

No. Three things can change without your commission ending:

  • The seller changes plan. They stay assigned to you, and your rate stays at 25%. Because commission follows actual payments, only the amount changes. The figures for all plans are in how the commission is calculated.
  • Merchavio changes its prices. Merchavio sets the plan prices and fees. If what a seller pays changes, the amount of your commission changes, not the rate.
  • Merchavio changes the partner terms. Then your existing conditions are protected: new rates or terms only apply to sellers referred afterwards. More in what happens if the partner terms change.

The list of your sellers in your Shopspotter area shows which rate applies to each one.
